Q: Where do you come from?
A: South Korea.

Q: When did you go on your working holiday?
A: 2/2016-2/2017.

Q: Where did you go for your working holiday and why?
A: Hong Kong. I have always wanted to go abroad to study or work, and one day I found that Hong Kong has working holiday scheme. Hong Kong's characteristic is totally different from the other countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, etc. Those countries are well-known already in Korea for working holiday schemes and actually many young Koreans choose to participate in them. However, since Hong Kong is close to Korea, and it is a small but fabulous city, I was attracted to Hong Kong and would like to have a new challenge in my life.

Q: What kinds of jobs did you do, and what kinds of courses did you take during your working holiday?
A: I worked in the Culture and Public Information Department of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong as an intern for 6 months, and now I'm working at the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aka, aT). No courses were taken.

Q: Tell us one of your most unforgettable memories in your working holiday.
A: Living in a flat located in Jordan for 5 months, I once had to evacuate from my flat because of my ignorance about the local culture. One day of May, I came back to home after work at night. I went to the bed at around 12am, and suddenly smoke with ashes rolled up from the window and filled my room. I thought a fire broke out in the building and was getting panicked, so I evacuated outside the building. Coming out of the room, I told the other flatmates about the smoke and the possibility of fire. However, other residents didn't escape from the building, and it seemed to be weird. After that, I got a text message from my flatmate telling me that it wasn't a fire, but just the custom of Chinese or Hong Kong people(not sure) for wishing a luck by burning some fake money and letters. Coincidentally, I heard a fire accident from my city in Korea which had caused two casualties that day. I cannot forget the feeling of the day still.

Q: What is the greatest reward you have got from your working holiday?
A: From the experience in Hong Kong, I have got courage to achieve more that I have expected. I feel it is easier to make a living in other country and try new things than before. I have gone through some hard times of course, but I dare say it was a valuable experience in my youth.

Q: Can you give 3 tips for young people who wish to visit the working holiday destination of your choice?
A:
1)
Don't be afraid to try unfamiliar things.
2)
Learn and respect the culture of Hong Kong.
3)
Work in weekdays and go somewhere or do something in the weekend.

Q: Is there any extra thing you would like to tell us?
A: No :)
